We would be looking for funding to support the Glendoune Support Hub. Within the Glendoune Centre, we run our Glendoune Support Hub every Monday from 10am-3pm. Within the Hub, we have services who attend to support locals who drop in. The support hub also has a community pantry, where locals who are struggling to access food, gas or electricity, can come in for support from staff.

Our project is setup to benefit the most marginalised and vulnerable people in society, whose lives have been adversely affected by drink, drugs, crime, unemployment, homelessness, violence, mental health difficulties, grief, trauma and other life controlling issues. We aim to do this by providing practical, spiritual, emotional and mental wellbeing support. We offer crisis intervention in relation to food poverty, we have programmes in place to prepare people for employment and education.

Our proposal will allowing us to expand the opening of our alcohol free community cafe, providing a safe community space accessible by the whole community, as well as supporting our volunteers, who are in recovery or affected family members, to undertake training, education, and additional volunteering activities.

This food funding will provide nurturing for body and mind by providing nutritional food for its Young Start participants at each after school drama session. This will reduce child poverty and ensure children go home fully nourished, thereby easing the family financial burden. The drama sessions have already secured funding from National Lottery Young Start.

The project delivers targeted support and practical assistance to mitigate poverty, prevent homelessness, and strengthen individual wellbeing and socioeconomic outcomes in South Ayrshire. Anyone at risk of homelessness can be referred by partners or can self-refer and be assessed by the coordinator to be eligible for assistance through the project.
