Investment project code: 209

Estimated Cost

£2,900

In relation to the identified priorities in the Guidance & Essential criteria what will your idea achieve and who will benefit from your project?

The project aligns with the Summer of Sport Objectives, developing our staff and young people to deliver a sustainable programme. The club as a whole community project, delivers in areas of high deprivation. Many of our staff & volunteers are at higher risk of poverty as are many of our players. By delivering high quality playing, training & personal development courses & qualifications we can improve their life chances and improve their physical and mental health-wellbeing along with kit.

Please describe what you plan to do and what the money will be used for? (i.e., purchase equipment/resources)

The project that we will deliver comprises 4 major elements:

  1. Training:

The development of staff through further training courses: these would include the Thrive course. This will help our staff to plan more efficiently and deliver more effectively, providing sustainability and enhanced learning for our players, volunteers and the young people who are included in our extensive outreach programmes.

Thrive Training

Thrive Training is a certificated course involving 3 days’ worth of training over 3 months with some additional work-based learning. This is the most intensive option within the Thrive Learning Programme and is particularly suited to those working full time in this field, including both managers and practitioners.

£400 /person 2 people £800

The club are also keen to take up training in strength and conditioning delivery,  which allows our players to benefit from increased safety on the pitch through appropriate training regimes and further enhance the skill set of our coaches.

DN training Academy £500

  1. Enhanced holiday programme, the club are actively pursuing additional activities for our well-established summer Rugby Camp programme. As part of this we are investigating the possibility of hiring e.g. the local swimming pools (Girvan and Maybole) for sessions during the camps. The approximate cost of this would be £50 per hour for possibly 6, 1 hour sessions over the 2-week period. Cost £300

  1. We would like to provide additional kit for young people through a specific fund which could include boots, gum guards war up and training kit. Playing kit is provided by the club for all players £500.

  1. A major part of our success is due to the provision of free transport throughout the year to games, training, and festivals. We would like to continue this and would ask for an £800 award towards the approximate £15,000 per year cost of this provision.
